Eat More Cherries to Prevent This Diabetes Symptom

Diabetes does serious damage to the blood vessels so that they aren’t as good at carrying blood throughout the body as they should be. As a result, things start to fall apart.

One serious side effect that comes up for many diabetics is gout. Gout occurs when there is too much uric acid built up in the body. Normally, the uric acid breaks down and dissolves. With diabetes and gout, however, uric acid begins to pool up in the blood. This build-up causes swelling and inflammation, especially around joints.

So how do we get this build-up all cleared out? Well, unfortunately, there is no quick cure for gout. Instead, doctors advise that you avoid eating foods that can cause an excess of uric acids (meats, legumes, seafood, and alcohol). Moderate exercise is also a great way to get the blood flowing regularly, which can help sweep some of that uric acid out.

One more way to help clean up the uric acid is with cherries.

Cherries Reduce Gout Symptoms

Cherries are already known to reduce inflammation. In fact, cherry juice (actual juice straight from the cherries, not the sugary kind) is often recommended to arthritis patients as a natural way to reduce inflammation throughout the body.

The same goes for gout as well.

It is so powerful that it can reduce gout attacks by 35% according to researchers. The best part of this study is that the participants consumed cherries just for two days, only. Cherry extract provided similar results, as well.
